Dinosaur

Dinosaur Game is a side-scrolling endless runner originally built as a Google Chrome offline easter egg. Using the spacebar or arrow keys, players guide a pixelated T-Rex across a desert landscape. The objective is to jump over cacti and duck under pterodactyls to survive. Chrome UX designers Sebastien Gabriel, Alan Bettes, and Edward Jung created this classic in 2014.

Controls

  • Jump (Desktop): Press Spacebar or Up Arrow key
  • Duck (Desktop): Press Down Arrow key
  • Jump (Mobile): Tap anywhere on the screen
  • Duck (Mobile): Swipe down on the screen

How to Play

  1. Start the game by pressing Spacebar or tapping the screen to set the T-Rex in motion.
  2. Jump over stationary obstacles of varying heights, including individual or clustered cacti.
  3. Duck or jump to avoid low, mid-level, or high-flying pterodactyls.
  4. The game environment dynamically changes, featuring a day-night cycle triggered at every 700-point score milestone.
  5. Survive as long as possible; any contact with an obstacle ends the game immediately.

Tips

  • Look ahead: Don't stare at the T-Rex. Focus your eyes 1–2 dinosaur lengths ahead to react to upcoming obstacles in advance.
  • Short-hop jumping: Tap keys quickly instead of holding them down. Shorter hops recover faster and prevent landing directly on subsequent obstacles.
  • Day-night transition prep: Be prepared for sudden color inversions at every 700-point threshold, which can briefly disrupt your visual timing.
